Chocolate Cherry Adaptogen Smoothie

This healthy and delicious smoothie is loaded with protein and adaptogens.

Ingredients

  • 10 Pitted dark cherries (frozen)
  • 2oz Tart cherry juice (or substitute about 4-6 additional cherries)
  • 1/2 cup Plant milk (preferably something containing protein, such as soy milk or Ripple)
  • 1/2 cup Plant-based yogurt (If you don’t have yogurt, canned coconut milk also works great)
  • 1/2 Banana
  • 1/2-1 scoop Chocolate protein powder (equivalent to about 15 grams of protein, see note)
  • 1 tbsp Cacao powder 
  • 1/16 tsp Rhodiola rosea
  • 1/8 tsp Ashwaganda 

Instructions

  • Add cherries, juice, plant milk, yogurt and 1/2 banana to the blender. Pulse a few times.
  • Add remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly. Add a handful of ice cubes before blending if desired.

Notes

The amount of protein powder needed will vary depending on the brand. I use VegaOne Sport, which contains 30 grams in a full scoop or 15 grams in 1/2 of a scoop. That brings the total protein content to around 20-25 grams, depending on the type of of plant milk, yogurt, etc. (That’s a great amount to have for breakfast.)
